Dr David Edwards

David graduated from Newcastle Dental Hospital in 2005, and completed 2-years general professional training, undertaking rotations in restorative dentistry, oral surgery and paediatric dentistry. He also completed the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery through the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MFDS RCS(Ed)). He then joined the Royal Army Dental Corps, during which time he completed tours across the UK, Kenya and Afghanistan, serving for a total of 12-years. He continued to work in civilian practice and provide private and NHS primary care during this time.

 

In 2014, David completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation at Newcastle (PGDipConSed), and continues to have a keen interest in anxiety management. He went on to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Restorative Dentistry through the Royal College of Surgeons of England (PGDip Rest Dent RCS(Eng)) in 2016, following this up with the Master of Science in Restorative Dentistry (MSc) at Peninsula dental School, University of Plymouth, in 2018.

 

David has an interest in medical education, being awarded the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Trainers through the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MFDTEd) in 2016, completing the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (PGCertMedEd) through Newcastle University in 2017, and being awarded the status of Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in 2018.

 

David is actively involved in research, with several peer reviewed publications in the field of endodontics. He has several ongoing projects investigating the best way to manage patients with severe toothache, and is entering his final year of the Masters in Clinical Research (MRes) at Newcastle University. David is currently completing full time specialist training in Endodontics which he will complete in 2022.
